Insanely helpful Chrome Extensions that I use.

Do you wanna know a few chrome extensions that can save tons of time and memory? Do you have tons of bookmark folders but you find it difficult to revisit them?

If you wanna level up your internet surfing game then I highly recommend you to check out these cool extensions!

List of Chrome Extensions:

  1. OneTab
  2. Video Speed Controller
  3. Papaly |Bookmark Manager Speed Dial
  4. Tab Pinner (Keyboard Shortcuts)
  5. Grammarly for Chrome
  6. ColorPick Eyedropper
  7. Just Focus
  8. Picture-in-Picture Extension (by Google)
  9. Fireshot(Webpage Screenshots)
  10. Volume Master
  11. Survol

Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers around the world, and I ugh it is a RAM hog, I still use it as my default browser because of the add-on extensions that make my internet surfing easier and also increases my productivity.

1. OneTab

I personally use OneTab, and this has completely changed my browsing experience and made my system more efficient. OneTab is one such extension that I would install first in my chrome browser and I 100% recommend it to every one of you.
Whenever you find yourself with too many tabs, just click the OneTab icon to convert all of your tabs into a list. When you need to access the tabs again, you can either restore them individually or all at once.
You can even share those lists of tabs as a separate webpage and also name those lists accordingly.
By doing so you could almost save up to 95% of your memory, and reduce the tab clutter.

2. Video Speed Controller

This one is an amazing extension, I might sound like a big productivity nerd or a crazy guy who watches videos at playback speed > 2x, (Note: It depends on the type of the video) and my theory behind this is that if I watch an 18 min. video on 2x then I would be almost saving 9 mins. of my life and I could either do some other work or watch some another video, and if you compare it for a one-hour video then it takes only 30-40mins. for me to watch.

Also, mind this that it depends on the type of content that I'm watching.😅 😉

All you have to do is just install the extensions and set a keyboard shortcut to increase/decrease playbacks speeds, and now you are all set to watch videos at up to playback speeds of 16x and also can slow down the videos up to 0.07x, which I only do to find easter eggs in MCU movie trailers, and scenes.

3. Papaly |Bookmark Manager Speed Dial

My Papaly Bookmark manager Workflow

As I was starting to learn Web Development, also exploring other different skills I found myself bookmarking 100s of websites in different folder categories but the sad thing was that I wasn't able to easily navigate and refer back to those valuable resources.
So, I decided to search for a bookmark manager and that's when I found "Papaly |Bookmark Manager Speed Dial" which is one of my favorite extensions, and the best thing is that I could use it across multiple devices and browsers, with a customized wallpaper behind the dashboard.

As you can see in the above images I categorized my bookmarks into different boards, and sections so that I could easily find them.
The only downside as of now is that it sometimes loads slowly after restarting the browser I recently spoke with the team and explained the issue and hopefully, we could get it fixed asap.

4. Tab Pinner (Keyboard Shortcuts)

The First 2 tabs are pinned i.e won't close on the sudden restart, manages tab clutter.

Chrome has an inbuilt feature to pin chrome tabs, but to pin a tab the user needs to right-click on the tab name and click on the Pin option.
I use this option a lot and I wanted a keyboard shortcut for this but there isn't any default keyboard shortcut available.
You either have to configure it in the chrome advanced keyboard shortcuts or the easier way is to install a chrome extension like "Tab Pinner" through which you can configure the shortcut for the "Pin this tab" option.

This sounds very useless for many of you but when you start opening many tabs and don't wanna lose all the opened tabs due to some sudden chrome app restart then this feature/tool will be super helpful.

5. Grammarly for Chrome

Grammarly is a writing assistant that offers you specific suggestions to help you improve your writing — and it goes way beyond grammar. You can be confident that your writing is not only correct but clear and concise, too.

Fun fact, even this blog post is being written with the help of Grammarly's smart suggestions and corrections. 😅 😉

I think instead of me telling you about this extension it would be much better and more exciting if you personally install it, signup, and start using it to see how amazingly Grammarly works.

6. ColorPick Eyedropper

ColorPick Eyedropper has been super handy and helpful to me whenever I try to design posters, digital art, etc. it helps me in getting the desired color values and it can be used across all sorts of web pages.

In short, it's a zoomed eyedropper & color chooser tool that allows you to select color values from web pages and more.

7. Just Focus

This has been one of the best extensions that helped me by blocking a few websites while working and helped me be more focused.

Just Focus is a free chrome extension that helps you avoid distractions and enables you to focus on your real work. Simply add a website to your block list and hit "Start Focusing" - you’ll increase your working efficiency and get more done.

Every time you visit the website in blocklist, it'll overlay some motivational quotes and prevent you from getting distracted.

8. Picture-in-Picture Extension (by Google)

This is an extension made by Google and it helps you watch videos in PiP(Picture-in-Picture) mode so that you could multitask more easily instead of constantly switching between different tabs in the browser.
When I didn't have an external monitor this extension has been very helpful and is still very helpful whenever I'm out/away from my workspace.

If you are learning to code/other skills from video tutorials then this might be the best extension you could find, as you don't have to switch your focus between watching the video and coding on your computer.

9. Fireshot(Webpage Screenshots)

There are many extensions, inbuilt screenshot software but I personally prefer Fireshot as it is widely used and it satisfies all my requirements.

It helps me take FULL webpage screenshots. Capture, edit and save them to PDF/JPEG/GIF/PNG, upload, print, send to OneNote, clipboard or email.
It can even work when OFFLINE and the best thing is that it has no ads, spyware, and unnecessary permissions.

10. Volume Master

Volume Master is my favorite extension and one of the main reasons is the ONLINE CLASSES 😂 😝.

If I find a class to be boring then I would try to learn some other stuff, and reduce the volume of that chrome-tab (I know we can mute but you never know when your roll no. gets called or something really important happens. 😅 )

We can also use this extension to increase the volume (>100%) in case the audio is too low to be audible.

11. Survol

I got to know about this extension when I was randomly scrolling through some Instagram Reels.

Survol saves you tabs and time by previewing every link you hover one.
This extension will save you time by letting you preview links you hover over instead of opening new tabs.

Sometimes when you search for some specific issue, query it would help you in giving you a brief understanding of what the link you hovered on is about and hence saves you time and prevent you from clicking on unnecessary/malicious links.

The best thing is that it's an OpenSource project and if you liked the extension then go check out their repo. and give them a ⭐️.

Above are a few chrome extensions that I use and there are still many other cool extensions but those are more useful for coders, developers and that would go for another post.

I hope you liked the post, also don't forget to share it with your people who might find this helpful! 😊
